As the Nevada Caucus approaches, New Mexico's First Lady reminds Nevada voters that the race is still in their hands.

Native Americans for Bill Richardson

The Richardson for President campaign has recently announced the launch of the Native Americans for Richardson grassroots organization. His long record of support for Native Americans includes a belief in promoting tribal sovereignty and self-determination. Included in his announcement of the group are the following prominent Nevadans:

Hon. Alvin Moyle (Fallon Paiute-Shoshone)
Chairman, Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe

Hon. Hugh Stevens (Te-moak of Western Shoshone)
Former Chair, Temoak Tribe of Western Shoshone

Hon. Brian Wallace (Washoe Tribe) Nevada
Former Chairman, Washoe Tribe

His experience as Congressman and Governor in New Mexico allowed him to develop a plan for positive change for our Native American population. To read that plan, click here

Welcome to our new and improved website

You may have noticed that we've recently added some new content to our website. Well not us so much as the Presidential campaign staffs. We've recently created accounts for each of the Presidential campaigns that has staff in Nevada. Whenever they want, they can login and keep us informed of upcoming campaign events, campaign related news or issues of importance to us here in Carson City or Nevada. As you can tell as you scroll through the homepage some of the campaigns are already posting. As we move further into this election cycle we'll make this tool available to local Democratic candidates as well.

We'll continue to update you via e-mail and phone calls too, but you'll most likely get the information first right here.

In addition to postings on the homepage, upcoming events are located in the right hand column or by clicking on a "bolded" day in the calendar. Soon you'll be able to volunteer for events and select the time you can work right online in the calendar.

You can also shop for books from Amazon.com. Just follow the links to purchase one of the featured books. The CCDCC will receive a commisson on each purchase.........

Reaching Out to Rural Voters

This past weekend the campaign spent some time reaching out to voters at the Carson City Rendezvous and Carson Valley Days. Campaign staff and volunteers walked around both events passing out Richardson for President stickers and collecting information from interested Nevada voters.

Governor Richardson has said he will “outwork any other campaign” and this past weekend we proved it by being the only presidential campaign at either event. At the Rendezvous we met one vendor from Yerington. He is an Ostrich rancher and was selling leather and jerky. The conversation quickly turned to healthcare. He is a Veteran and has to drive from Yerington to Dayton to visit a VA facility. We let him know that under Governor Richardson’s Health Care Plan, he would receive a “Hero’s Health Card” that would allow him to visit a medical facility close to home and the VA would pay for it as if he had visited them.

This is just one example of how Richardson’s grassroots strategy is reaching out to voters in counties other than Clark and Washoe. This strategy is especially important now that rural America is becoming more and more Democratic. This article by NPR highlights that change; a change in which the Carson City Democrats are on the frontline.
