This past Sunday, Governor Richardson made his case for being the one candidate that will bring both experience and change to Washington DC. The ABC Debate allowed Richardson to make the case for his 2 for 1 candidacy.
This Wednesday (August 22), the candidate of experience and change will be in Northern Nevada. Here is his schedule:
11:10AM Speech to the Nevada AFL-CIO – Grand Sierra Resort, Reno, NV
3:00PM Brookings/UNR Candidate Forum – Lawlor Center – Free tickets available on a first-come, first-serve basis – Call HQ at (775) 787 2444
6:30 PM Meet & Greet at Fernley High – 1300 Hwy 95A, Fernley, NV – Free and open to the public
The issues most likely to be highlighted by the Governor's visit this week? Value of unions, the economy, education, and western issues.
Senators talk and Governors do. When Governor Richardson was first elected Governor, New Mexico was not in the best shape. One of his highest priorities was to create new jobs for the state. He did that by providing incentives to companies that hired new workers that were paid above the prevailing wage and by encouraging job creation in rural New Mexico. The Governor has a new tv ad to highlight the fact that while others may talk about creating jobs, Governor Richardson has created jobs (over 80,000 in New Mexico)
In fact, Governor Richardson is already creating jobs in Nevada. This week, the Governor's campaign renewed it's commitment to Nevada. They released this statement:
"Senator Reid is right, the road to the White House runs through Nevada. Though other campaigns may waver, I remain committed to campaigning in Nevada," said Governor Richardson. "I hired the first staff, opened the first office, and made the first visit to Elko of any Democratic Presidential candidate because I know that Nevada matters. My growing staff in Nevada is there to reach out to voters one by one... read the rest of the statement here
This weekend's Sustainable Living and Renewable Energy Roundup in Carson Valley will highlight Nevada's committment to a needed energy revolution. As the Carson Valley focuses its attention on on this great undertaking, it is important to think about where our 2008 Democratic Candidates stand on energy.
Last week, the popular blog DailyKos had a post comparing the energy plans of the top tier Democratic candidates. At the end of the comparison, readers were able to vote for which plan was the best. Governor Richardson beat Edwards by over 100 votes and beat Obama and Clinton by thousands of votes. Read the comparison here
This came just as Richardson released his newest ad. The ad touts his energy plan and notes that the Sierra Club has called it "much more aggressive"

August 1st was the deadline for all Presidential candidates (Democratic and Republican) to release their detailed health care plans in order to have a chance at the endorsement from Americans for Health Care and the SEIU. Richardson's plan was released several weeks ago. The basic idea of Richardson's plan is Affordable Health Care for All Americans. So what is the Richardson approach to health care? It is a three prong approach:
1. Open up existing sources of affordable, portable coverage to more Americans
2. Help families pay for coverage
3. Provide relief from high health costs
The details of the plan can be found here

It's Richardson's bold approach to the issues that have helped him leap ahead of John Edwards in Arizona and nearly tied with Obama in Iowa. See the poll results here
After a successful Nevada campaign swing last week, Governor Richardson has announced the kickoff for his Women For Bill Richardson campaign. Rather than explain why you should join Women for Richardson, I'll let his co-chair Dr. Martha Burk discuss the Governor's commitment to women.
