If you are not sure how health care reform can be part of the caucuses, here is your chance to talk about how you can advocate for health care reform at your caucus. If you want to know how the 2008 Caucus will be run you may attend a “mock caucus” being sponsored by the Carson City Democrats. This event will be held at 7pm Tuesday January 8 in the AFSCME Local 4041 Building located at 709 East Robinson Street, on the southwest corner of Roop & Robinson. Carson City Democrats will meet 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 9th, at the Oakwood Room in the Plaza Hotel Conference Center, 211 E. 9th Street, in Carson City. The First-in-the-West early Nevada caucus will be the featured topic of this meeting. This is the first day after the New Hampshire Primary and 10 days prior to the Nevada caucus, so there might be presidential candidates attending. At the very least, the campaigns will be making their last presentation to Carson City Democrats to caucus for the presidential candidates. We will be discussing the current status of the Nevada Caucus and its progress in Carson City. If you do not yet know the location of your precinct caucus, you will be able to find out at this meeting.

The Women's Club will be meeting on Saturday January 12th at 11:30AM in the back conference room of Grandma Hattie's. The debate will be telecast live by MSNBC and held at the Cashman Center in Las Vegas on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Pacific Standard Time.

This is the day we have been waiting for since the February 2007 Presidential Candidates’ Forum. All Carson City Democrats and those wishing to register as a Democrat are urged to attend their precinct meeting on Saturday, January 19, 2008. The doors at each location will open at 11:00AM. Precinct meetings will begin at 11:30AM. At the meetings we will voice our preference for the presidential candidates, elect delegates to the county convention, submit resolutions for the county platform, and nominate members to the Carson City Democratic Central Committee. You must be present to participate; there is no early voting or absentee ballot. If you do not know your precinct number or the location of your caucus meeting, be sure to call the Carson City Democratic Headquarters at 841-DEMS.
