Accomplishments
- Ran the largest small business assistance program in Nevada’s history
- Pandemic Emergency Technical Support (PETS) Grant, which was a $102MM program, that provided $10,000 grants to small businesses and non-profits during the pandemic
- Helped 9,389 small businesses and non-profits in total
- 52% of grant awards went to disadvantaged businesses (minority, woman, veteran, and disability-owned)
- This program was literally the difference between staying open or closing for many of the grant recipients
- Achieved the highest credit rating in Nevada’s history
- Kept Nevada’s credit rating from being downgraded during the pandemic
- Returned the highest amount of unclaimed property to Nevadans in history
- Launched a program to return unclaimed property to people applying for unemployment insurance during the pandemic
- Protected homeowners, landlords, and tenants throughout the pandemic
- Negotiated an agreement with Nevada’s banks, credit unions, and mortgage services to not foreclose on any homeowner during the beginning of the pandemic.
- Launched and oversaw the Statewide Coronavirus Housing Assistance Program (CHAP), which has provided $222MM (to date) to help landlords and tenants with rental assistance during the pandemic
- Launched a first-in-the-nation grant program for children with disabilities
- Launched the largest public engagement effort in the State’s history with the Nevada Recovers Listening Tour
- Launched the Nevada State Infrastructure Bank, which is projected to create 30,000 good-paying jobs over the next 10 years.
- Established a $20MM fund in the Infrastructure Bank dedicated to Affordable Housing, which will leverage hundreds of millions of union/pension fund capital into the State
- Expanded Nevada’s college savings programs to reflect the diversity and needs of Nevada families
- Has worked to ensure the Millennium Scholarship is solvent for future generations
- Passed the first state-level cannabis banking solution in the country
